Edward Bess Compact Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in 'Love Affair'

'Love Affair'

Edward Bess was a brand that I was completely unfamiliar with, that was until I became an avid beauty blog reader. I'm not sure if I should thank those or curse those for introducing me to this high-end luxury brand. Oh, what the heck I kind of like you guys so...thanks! Take it from me, once you take the plunge, his products can be very addicting.

It isn't hard to see why this beauty brand is on the receiving end of so many glowing reviews. With its sleek packaging, and well-streamed no-nonsense line these products deliver beautiful results.

I've had Edward Bess' compact rogue in 'Love Affair' for months now, and realized I never did a proper review on it.  First, let's start with the packaging. Like all of Chanel's powdered products, Edward Bess products too come in a velvet pouch. Along with the compact is the cutest mirror which comes in handy for touch-ups of the blush, or a quick swipe of gloss. Next, is the color. I love pink. I want to sing it from the mountaintops I love pink makeup so much. So naturally, I am drawn to the fushia "pinkness" of 'Love Affair'. I dab a little on my cheeks, blend and the color payoff is terrific. Finally, the staying power of these things are great. I've yet to try this during the hot summer months in Los Angeles were you feel like you are melting if you remain outside an air-conditioned building longer than 2.5 seconds. I can tell you, however, that during the winter months this rogue didn't budge.

Unfortunately, my skin is experiencing a freak out with rosacea so I've been put on an oil-in-makeup ban (strict orders from the derm.)! This rogue does contain castor seed oil (a no-no for my skin) so as I type this, this little gem sits in my beauty drawer. I've noticed a HUGE improvement in my skin over the last 4 weeks, that I hate to tempt the gods and apply this now for fear I would experience the wrath of the rosacea gods (something nobody wants).

Although I'm taking a hiatus (hopefully a short one) from this product, it doesn't taint me from highly recommending it to others. Personally, I think cream blushes look more natural and deliver more believable results than powdered blushes. Also, with all of Edward Bess' rogue's they were meant to add color to both the cheeks and lips, they are not too sticky and possess a light fruity (I really cannot put my finger on what it is exactly) smell. The smell is subtle and I quite like it, but thought it was worth noting for those that maybe sensitive to smell.

Retails for $38.00, can be found at Bergdorf Goodman in-store and on-line, in-store at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills and on-line, or edwardbess.com.

Le Metier De Beaute's Kaleidoscope 'Les Artiste'

Les Artistes Lip Kaleidoscope

Lipstick and lipgloss to me is more about feeling, it is an experience versus eyeshadow. With this kaleidoscope, my senses were provoked. Let's start with sight, this is a very eye-catching kaleidoscope that range from earth tones to jewel tones. The way the glosses settled onto my lips - the feeling was substantial but not heavy nor sticky, the delightful aroma of vanilla (my favorite) smells divine!

'Illusionists' - a lip gloss

'Acrobates' - a lip gloss

'Magicens' - a lip stick

'Danseurs' - a gloss

Lip swatches with two swipes of a finger in natural light

The effect of layering all the colors together, I love how shiny and glossy it is!

I hope this review was insightful as I have not personally seen many reviews on their lip kaleidoscopes. This may just be one of my favorite kaleidoscopes that I own. For some reason, Le Metier De Beaute's eye kaleidoscopes get all the glory. I'm not saying that is unjust but let's throw some love at the lip kaleidoscopes too! Le Metier De Beaute is not coming out with a lip kaleidoscope for their Spring/Summer collection but I've heard they are working on one for the upcoming Fall collection. I'll be eagerly waiting to see what that one looks like too.

Do you own any Le Metier De Beaute lip kaleidoscopes?

p.s. Happy Mother's Day to all the dedicated mom's out there!

Trish McEvoy's Luxury Leather Planner in 'Cappucino'

Trish McEvoy Luxury Planner

"Be still my beating heart!"

It was as if my head could not comprehend what it was seeing leopard + makeup organization + Trish McEvoy? "Yes", "yes", and more "yes"! I spotted this beauty well over a year and a half ago, but was only able to appreciate her from afar. I was so on board with this planner perched proudly up on the shelf of the Trish McEvoy counter that I was already sold before the SA could place her in my hands. When I asked to see it and saw that it was red inside it was beyond perfection (leopard print and red together, you need to stop). Then, I saw the price, it was a whopping $400.00 and limited edition so I paused right there and sadly handed it back to the kind sales associate. Well, that happened 18 months ago and every time I strolled through that same Bloomingdale's cosmetic section I would see the planner and feel giddy inside knowing it was still there. It was as if it waiting it were waiting for the day we could be reunited. Then, one day I was there and the planner wasn't. I knew that it had only meant that some other lucky lady was enjoying my the planner. Still, every time I would pass a Trish McEvoy counter I would keep my eyes peeled, hoping to spot another planner, but I didn't. I was resolved to know that the planner was limited edition and just was not fated to be mine.

It wasn't until Mother's Day rolled around that I dreamed of owning that leopard planner. I diligently did my research online but could not yield any results. It was as if all the Trish McEvoy planners had been pulled off the market? Was this a cruel joke? I  slyly pointed my husband in the right direction and let him do the rest. Being the worlds greatest husband and daddy he was able to track one down and get it for me!!! After all what do you buy the beauty blogging mother of your child if not the epitome of cosmetic elegance?!? I like to think that the planner I have now resting comfortably in my bedroom, is the same planner I lovingly clutched 18 months prior. I suppose it was fate all along!

Calf hair and red leather lining

Planner with removable pouch for all those Trish McEvoy goodies!

This planner was tracked down at Saks Fifth Avenue in Palm Desert, CA. I want to thank my hubby, baby, and the lovely sales associates at Trish McEvoy that helped locate this planner. I will be sure to treasure this for years to come.

Happy Mother's Day to all the unselfish mom's who tirelessly do the best we can - I salute you!

Custom Le Metier De Beaute Kaleidoscope

Here is my custom baby that I love...

From top to bottom: Jojo, Platinum, Corinthian, and Sequoia. I kept with neutrals and am excited to see all the colors together. I purchased this through Neiman Marcus in store. I had so much fun picking out the colors. It is worth noting that since you are picking pre-made colors this will run you $120.00, not the usual $95.00. I don't know about you but I was definitely willing to pay the extra $25.00 for colors I knew I would love.

From L-R - 'Jojo', 'Platinum', 'Corinthian' & 'Sequoia' in natural light. You can see that 'Sequoia' is more sheer than the other three. Each swatch was done with two passes of my finger with no underlying base.

From L-R - 'Jojo' , 'Platinum', 'Corinthian' &'Sequoia' in the sunlight to show the shimmer
The colors mixed together with 'Tamarack' eye pencil smudged in and 'Aubergine' mascara applied.

What are your must have eye shadow colors?

Le Metier De Beaute's Le Cirque Kaleidoscope Swatches and Photos

I'm not going to do a full on review on Le Cirque, there are plenty of reviews out there if you want that. I would suggest checking out The Non-Blonde, The Beauty Look Book, or Cafe Makeup for a more indepth review. I simply wanted to show more detailed pics of the kaleidoscopes I own.

Le Cirque

'Flamboyantes', 'Spectacle', 'Enrichissant', & 'Dynamique' swatched

'Flamboyantes'

'Spectacle'

'Enrichissant'

'Dynamique'

To sum it up, this kaleidoscope is a lovely combination of colors that will take you through day-to-night.

If you find yourself wanting this kaleidoscope I'm sure the sleuths working at Le Metier could help you locate this beaute. It retails for $95.00. As with all their kaleidoscopes, they are limited edition and sell out rather quickly.
